Mac usage in Dutch business

Macs are, of course, very popular among private customers, but increasingly we are also receiving requests from business clients. The idea that only graphic departments use Macs is far behind us. Nowadays, many other departments are using Macs extensively. Think of IT departments, Marketing/Sales departments, and HR departments. The use of Macs in the business world is increasing and is expected to grow even more.

Research on Macs in the Dutch business sector

Research by Pb7 Research in 2020 among 200 Dutch organizations shows that more and more people prefer working with a Mac. In no less than 4 out of 5 large businesses, employees use a Mac. Nearly half (46%) of the organizations surveyed expect the share of Macs to increase and (45%) expect this number to remain stable. The use of Macs is particularly increasing in financial services and professional services.

Reasons to choose a Mac

There are several reasons why Macs are becoming more popular in the business world. The first and most important reason is ‘ease of use.’ Additionally, ‘the availability of specific applications’ is another key reason, especially for creative roles and the marketing department. A third reason is 'security.’ Macs are known for their strong security updates. If any Mac malware appears, Apple is quick to respond. However, it is still advisable to take additional security measures as a company.

The vast majority of IT decision-makers (95.5%) are positive about the use of Macs. Most respondents confirm the positive image of Macs regarding ease of use and security, saying that Macs truly deliver on these promises in practice.
